How long is the SAT?

How long is the SAT?

The full SAT test is 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Each section is broken down into manageable "chunks" - such as 20 minutes for math, then 25 for reading, etc.

Each test is different and there may be two or more different tests given at your same testing center on test day.

How long are the SAT subject exams? Allow about an hour for each subject you test on.

Keep the questions coming! We love to help!

Is 1800 a good SAT score in 9th grade?

Is 1800 a good SAT score in the 9th grade?

Good question! If you got 1800 on the SAT in 9th grade, you are already ahead of most students as the average score on the test is 1500.

However, if you got 1800 on the SAT and you're only in the 9th grade, you have some time to get some serious study done to be able to boost that score to Yale or Harvard levels. 1800 is a good score, but 2100+ is a GREAT score. You are on the right track!

Take some time to focus on and master any problem areas you have. We can help with our specialized study guides:

What is a good SAT score?

What is a good SAT score?

That's a great question!

A good or GREAT SAT score depends on who you're asking. We think that a good SAT score is about 2100+.

Each section will give you between 200-800 points, making a perfect score 2400.

For an average student, an average score is about 500 per section - so 1500. That was very close to the national average in 2011. BUT, you want AN AWESOME score don't you? A good SAT score will only get you so far, but a GREAT SAT score will get you even more exposure to the college of your choice. The higher the SAT score the better.

You can boost your score in each of the three sections:

SAT Critical Reading
SAT Mathematics
SAT Writing

By increasing one or all of these score sections gives you a MUCH better overall SAT score. So what is a good SAT score? The one you get the next time around - after studying with our SAT materials. In fact, we guarantee you'll get a higher score, or your money back!

What is the SAT I test?

I keep hearing about the SAT I test. What is it? How is it any different from the SAT test?

The SAT I, the SAT 1 and the SAT i are all the same thing. What? Different people refer to the test in different ways, but it is the plain regular SAT test.

The SAT test is for all high school students that need a SAT score to submit for college applications. Some schools prefer the SAT and some the ACT. You should check with your desired school to find our their preference in advance or just take both tests.
The SAT test is referred to as the SAT 1 because there is also an SAT 2. Most people haven't heard of the SAT 2 - but basically it is separate subject tests that some schools may require to test competency in a specific area like Chemistry or Latin.
